After our disappointing time with the Sharks or not as it were, we made our way north heading towards Christchurch and diverted off to a small place called Lake Tekapo. It was a beautiful place with an amazing lake,
It was so blue like a turquoise colour and we decided to just chill there for a couple of days as we are exhausted after our month of being on the go.
So we found a campsite on the lake, pitched up, bought a load of bbq food and that was us. Lovely
Lake Tekapo is also know for its star gazing, due to there being no pollution in the area the sky is so clear, and it was, about 12:00 we sat outside our tent and just watched it was amazing, we have never seen so many stars.
Unfortunately the camera wouldn't pick these up so we will just have to keep this one for ourselves.
The next day we just chilled out by the lake and the sun was shining, I have to say it felt good to chill and watch the boats and jet skis fly around the lake.
Whilst in lake Tekapo we had a quick drive to Mt Cook NZ largest mountain as you will see from the photos its stunning, it's the middle of summer here and you will see the amount of snow on it gives you an idea how high it is. Well over 3000m, in the photos you will see a memorial with plaques on, that's all the people who have died trying to climb MtCook there were loads we were shocked. Some fallen from height but most taken from Avalanches it was quite sad to read the stories on them.
We heading north tomorrow to our last destination in NZ Christchurch which apparently Is still in a bad way from the earthquake they had there some years ago but we'll see for ourselves when we get there
