Today we caught the brief ferry from townsville to magnetic island. We took the bikes over that Bob (izzys friend) lent us with the strong intention of using them to get around the island. Unfortunately the hills defeated us in the 34 degree heat. After a quick dip in the sea to cool off, we cycled to izzys friends house who kindly drove us around the island. They took us to a few different bays and lookouts and even took us snorkelling. We then did a historic walk called 'forts walk' which went up the mountain that the war was used for. There were some lovely views from the top and we watched the sun go down. We seemed to forget however that when the sun goes down it is incredibly hard to find your way back through tracks and trails. We managed it in the end and then headed to the bay that we had arranged to stay. Izzy and jen are staying on a boat tonight however I chickened out as the water is very rough at the moment and didn't fancy sleeping in my own vomit
