Holiday time again! This time it's a family holiday to Fiji.
I flew down to Sydney on Monday and after a study day at dad's house on Tuesday, the family all assembled for Fiji Eve.
We were up early at 3am (!) and after quickly showering and packing the last of our things we piled into the transfer bus to get to the airport. We arrived at around 4:30am and after checking headed through customs. It was nice and empty at that time of the morning which was a bonus.
We actually only had an hour or so to have a coffee and then wander about the airport before we had to board which was good. The flight was 3.5 hours (shorter than I had anticipated) with a little bit of turbulence at the start but fairly smooth otherwise. We landed at around 12pm Fiji time and collected our bags. We found our transfer bus driver and made our way to the resort which was another hour away.
When we arrived it all started to look very familiar (we have been to this exact same resort a number of times) and we were able to check in and get to our rooms pretty quickly (considering we were now on Fiji-time). I get to have a room to myself which is good and also unusual.
After dumping our bags Michael, Alison and I went for a short walk and had a cocktail together (Long Island Iced Teas) and then at my request walked down to the gym to see what it was like.
It was around 5pm by then so we went back to our rooms and had some drinks on the grassed area that is behind all our rooms (we have four rooms in a row, pretty much). We had bought some spirits duty free and also some mixer drinks at the supermarket on the way to the resort and it's way cheaper than buying drinks at the resort. We ordered room service pizzas for dinner which were okay.
At around 7pm some people were starting to feel tired so we packed up our drinks. Dad, Kerrie, Britt and Nathan went for a walk whilst Michael, Alison and I had a few drinks in their room and then got ready to go to the resort club. There was a DJ playing from 9pm so we waiting around till then and then walked across.
The club was very empty but it was good because the DJ played our requests and we got some good dancing in. Michael and I even had a magical dance to Euphoria by Loreen which was excellent. At around 11:30 pm I decided to call it a night and left the other two to their devices.
It was nice and quiet in my room and I showered and settled into bed for my first night back in Fiji.
