Scott organised a 4 hr walking tour for today. Tim Stewart was our guide and we met him at 10.00 at the White House Visitor Centre. The visitor centre itself was very informative. Today we headed off to Arlington Cemetery saw J F Kennedys grave and Jacqui Kennedy's grave. The tomb of the unknown soldier. We watched the changing of the guard. This happens every 1/2 hour and is done with absolute precision it is guarded 24 hrs a day 365 days of the year. Today we walked around Gettysburg unfortunately a lot of the shops weren't open on a Tuesday. We had our first decent coffee and walked around town for an hour and a half. Really beautiful town - Scott and I went up to the Cemetary which had all of these unknown graves. Casualties of Gettysburg were 15000, in the cemetary there were 6000 US soldiers including 3580 Union Soldiers killed in Gettysburg. Nearly half those burials were unknown soldiers. A very moving ...
