Today we headed to Gettysburg. A 3 hr drive ahead of us hoping to arrive by lunch time. We were driving along the 81 when we heard the road was closed because of a sink hole. We were diverted to the 11 as were all the other thousands of trucks and cars. It took us 3 hrs to get 10 miles. Everyone was busting to go to the loo. Not fun to be in a traffic jam for 3 hrs. Then we arrived in Gettysburg in a further 1 hr and a 1/2. What an amazing little town. We got a CD which directs you around the park in your own car. Of course we got lost at the first turn. We got back on track but Danos was driving at 5 Kph when you needed to be at 25 kph to keep in time with the audio. We have a knack for making easy things hard. Saw the site of Abraham Lincolns Gettysburg address, the site of Pickerts Charge which ultimately was the decisive battle that won Gettysburg for the Union and in some eyes the Civil War. We saw Little Round Top and Big Round Top. We heard about Robert E Lee, James Longstreet, Reynolds and George Meade. Had a lovely dinner at Ororkes then 6 of us did the Ghost Tour. It was really informative and spooky. Can't wait to check my photos when I get home for some ghostly images. Di could smell gun smoke at one of the places Danos also felt something on the back of his neck but it was Gerry trying to be funny. Home to bed
