Today we ended our cruise and will be spending tonight in Venice. Got off the boat with all our luggage and managed to find our way to our hotel but only after negotiating bridges etc. The boys were pretty puffed after carrying the bags over one bridge, although Danos paid guy $10 euros to wheel his gear. We are staying on the Grand Canal and it is a very busy place. We strolled up to St Marks square today from our hotel. On the way we shopped and then stopped and had a Gondola ride. We walked the Rialto Bridge and then headed to St Marks Bascilica. It was very impressive, the marble floor is sinking so it is very uneven. It dates back to 900 AD. We then took pictures of the bridge of sighs called this because prisoners walked over this on their way to their cells. After having a look around St Marks square we got a water taxi, a really cool timber speed boat back to our hotel. We moved our bags into our rooms and then went over to the train station to organize our trip tomorrow. Then we once again walked around, more shopping had a lovely dinner and back to hotel. Definitely want to come back here.

andrew davis Aah Venice, my favorite part of our Europe trip. Best pepperoni pizza and coffee i ever had......although it was bloody freezing so that might have had something to do with it. Don't miss the glass blowing expo just off St Marks.....amazing.
