Hello guys, well, I am still working in Sydney and really enjoying my job. It's so nice how people come into the pub and know my name, my story.... just like the old days in the Cross Keys!
So Valentines Day...I had an annonymous delivery of 12 long stem red roses to my workplace - lucky me!
Leah and I, along with two of our housemates, went to a fab zoo in Sydney. You to have to take a ferry ride over to it and when you get there, the city forms the backdrop so you get giraffes wandering infront of the opera house - quite stunning.
What was alarming were the number of spiders, wild, in the zoo. Not even behind bars. We then went home to find the hugest (and I suspect DEADLY) spider in our garden during a BBQ party. However, a few gins and amarettos eventually helped to block it out.
I was taken, as a surprise, to a really nice restaurant in the city. We arrived and the lift door opened to spectacular views of the city and a revolving floor. How special! Most people seemed unphased by the whole thing, but when the opera house spun into view, I was like a small child!
Unfortunately, as I was dining on breaded quail, the old mouth went into action before the brain, and I remarked to the person who had taken me that it was just like a posh chicken nugget...ooops, well, you can take the girl out of uttoxeter...!
My luck continued as I was also invited to a corporate do at a rugby game. So as my fellow backpackers have been surviving on super noodles and pasta I have been dining on lamb cutletts, kangaroo and crocodile and rubbing shoulders with the stars (a famous player was sat in front of me apparently)
But as with everything, when there is good, there is bad. I am currently goggle bound and have had to see a specialist about my eyes. Then, my glasses broke so I was blind until the optician felt sorry for me and mended them for free. Then I lost my phone - however, a very good samaritan gave me a new one. There really are some decent folk in this world.
So that's me for the last week or so. As you can see, still having a blast and enjoying the unexpected things that travelling brings.
Take care, Katherine xxx
