Well we are back on the road again now. Back to hostels, sharing bathrooms and generally being dirty stinking backpackers.
My last week in Sydney was great. We went to see the Mardi Gras Festival (big gay carnival). It was colourful and vibrant although it did, ah hem, 'drag' on a little.
I was also taken to a lovely restaurant with a huge balcony overlooking harbour bridge. The ambiance was lovely and I turned and remarked on the view from the other side of the restaurant - until being told, albeit a little smugly, that it was indeed a reflection (there is only one big bridge in Sydney smith - doh!).
Also tried an oyster and nearly vomited on the floor, once again exhibiting my classier side.
Leah had a tatoo done on her foot before we left - as a good friend I went along to support her - and promptly felll asleep on the couch.
So we left for Canberra. I'm sure I don't need to tell you all that this is infact Oz's capital city. Very nice and clean but turns into a kind of eerrie indiana at night time - definitely lacking the atmosphere of Sydney.
We did the touristy things - visiting parliament house, war memorials and the museum where we had our own personal thai-ish guide who certainly made up for our lack of enthusiasm for the outdoor concrete garden.
We left Canberra for Melbourne on a night bus. I was in a class A strop at the prospect of having to use the on board loo - fortunatley we did stop three hours in. However, Leah is concerned about my general attitude and well-being in Asia as apparently they don't even have Western toilets there.
So currently in Melbourne having a very exciting time mingling with celebrities, but that's another story which no doubt I'll tell you over the next couple of days.
Til then, take care and a little joke for you in honour of St. Patrick's Day (must say in Irish accent)
What do you call an Irish man with a bulb on his head? Shaun Delier
