Apparently not much goes on in Adelaide, however, our timing just happened to coincide with the police and fire world games so the place was swarming with buff men from all over the globe. Not bad for the 'giant residential home' city.
We made it down to the beach and as we were sunning ourselves in the 30 degree heat, we were also being entertained by the male beach volleyball competition. We also paddled in the sea - we would not go any further on account of the great white shark diving they do in the area.
On a night out, an Aussie guy started to chat to us and we convinced him that we were fireladies competing in the jelly wrestling tournament but had been knocked out by the Bosnian team. His eyes lit up - he didn't think fireladies looked like us. And wrestling in bikinis really topped it off. We left sharpish.
The Fringe Festival was also on whilst we were there so we went to see an Aussie comedian and also the world famous show 'Puppetry of the Penis'.
Now, being an ex-theatre student, I'm sure you would expect me to go and see something a little more highbrow than two blokes shaping their manhood into beefburgers and the eiffel tower. However, I can assure you it was a legitimate theatrical experience. And certainly very impressive.
So next stop - a camping trip in Ayers Rock. Assuming I don't get mauled to death by a dingo, I look forward to letting you know how I got on.
Love, Katherine xxx
