This week has been one of madness and mayhem as the school prepares to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Workmen and women (no discrimination here) have been frantically trying to finish some of the building works before Friday so have been working day and night.....and I do mean night..I could still hear the cement truck pouring concrete at 2.30am!!! The students have been on to me since 1 December about Christmas - so many questions - how will I celebrate, what about a tree and decorations, what about my family, will I go home (!!) etc etc. It's hard to beleive but they really have no concept of distance and find it impossible to imagine that I can't go home for Christmas given I get 1 day off!!! This week had been relatively quiet in that I haven't been flitting out of the city and no superstar treatment!! Building works continue at a rapid pace at school. The new canteen was opened with much fanfare at 0600 on Monday morning - needless to say I didn't quite make it but could hear everything from my apartment!! We now have the workmen working day and night as they demolish the old canteen and adjacent buildings - with the assistance of a big "tonka" toy...
