Santorini! We arrived into Santorini on Friday afternoon. After checking in- and getting an upgrade to a private room with an ensuite- A few of us went with our guide, Mickey, to a fish spa- one of the places where you have fish eat the dead skin off your feet. After 7 weeks of constantly walking our feet aren't in the best shape so it was much needed! Dinner tonight was at a beautiful restaurant- Fanari- overlooking the santorini sunset, amazing view! We had an amazing meal; Greek salad followed by grilled squid stuffed with feta and sundried tomatoes. Santorini has beautiful jewellery and our tour group got 50% off at a certain store so I treated myself to a couple of stunning silver rings. We headed to the highlander bar afterwards for happy hour and then headed back to the hotel.
Saturday we had the 'santorini bucket list' tour. It started with a trip up to one of the highest view points in santorini with a stunning view, and a visit inside a monastery. We then headed to the black beach- Volcanic ash- it gets so hot to walk on. The floor of the ocean is a flat rock face for about 10 metres out, so strange to walk on when you're used to sand! Our next stop was the red beach, also an incredible sight. Red sand and cliff faces. We then moved onto santo winery- that's where the blog photo is taken from. We tasted a few local wines, wandered the gift store before heading back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. Dinner was a picnic in oia, overlooking a stunning sunset. We had an absolute feast of Greek salad, stuffed peppers, meatballs, bread, hommus, salmon dip, tzatziki, olives and much more! That evening Kristen had an early night as she was sick so I walked around the shops with Mon, a girl on our trip (she's from Brighton in Victoria) and then joined everyone at the highlander bar.
Next stop, Ios!
Fun fact of the day: santorini's landscape was formed by a volcano eruption. It's incredible to see from a high view- one side is flat and beachy and the other is all pushed back and steep cliffs from the volcano.
