Croatia! We jumped off the ferry nice and early on thursday and headed for our hostel- hostel booze & snooze- classy. It was in such a good location, so close to everything. Split is really easy to walk around and get everywhere by foot. We left our luggage at the hostel and the guy at reception showed us all the good things to do in split. We wandered the markets, had a bit of lunch and decided to have a look at the lookout the guy told us about. Oh. My. It was a hike and a half! About 1000 stairs and a whole lot of walking, the views were absolutely incredible. Beach time! We went back to the hostel to check in and get our rooms. Ours was two levels, Kristen got a bed on the bottom level, and my bed was up a steep ladder (quite an effort to get my bag up) in an attic like room. Quite an experience. We grabbed our bathers and headed for the nearby 'sand' beach we were told about. There was about 100m of sand, and the rest was concrete surrounding the water. So strange! Still good for sunbathing and cooling off though :)
We enjoyed dinner by the beach and wandered around before heading back to our hostel.
Friday we woke early and headed to the pebble beach, a couple of kms from the hostel and apparently much nicer than the sand beach. It was beautiful there! We sunbathed and swam for a couple of hours, until about 1pm when it got too got for the beach. It was about 37 degrees in split, apparently the hottest start to summer they've had in a while. We had lunch at the hostel with our supermarket supplies before wandering the markets again. We met up with Amanda, a girl from busabout who we first met in Prague and had dinner with her and a few from the hostel.
Saturday we woke, packed our bags, checked out and headed for the port to jump on our boat ready for a week of Croatia sailing! First stop, Hvar!
