Kruger, Berg -en-Dal Dec 11th to 12th
After gladly leaving Nelspruit we headed into Kruger all packed up through the Malelane Gate. Formalities at the gate were short and even before we reached the gate we crossed the Crocodile River and spotted one huge croc basking in the sun on a grassy bank! About 50m past the gate we then spotted two White Rhino by the side of the road, animal spotting was going well but surely it would't be this easy!!On our drive to Berg-en-dal our first over night we also saw impala and giraffe, a great start.
Berg-en-dal was nice enough although getting very hot so after setting up camp we headed to the camp shop to stock up on some ice and cold drinks heading back via the perimeter fence. There was a dam but it was practically dry other than a couple of puddles of water but still very pleasant, the walk back to camp took us along part of the Rhino Trial with lots of interesting facts and aninal skulls along the way. Once we got back it was time to head to the pool for a refreshing dip, it took me a while to get in I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to cold water but once in it was very nice! As we enjoyed the water you could see eagles circling above - I wonder what was on there dinner menu!
As morning came we were all wet again after shower through the night so carefully avoiding the muddy patches around the car we packed up and set off towards Lower Sabie where we were to stay for two nights.
