I woke up feeling great today, happy to be alive, happy to be in Uruguay and happy to be sharing my time with the lovely Ana. Ana had a bit of a sleep-in so I used the time to catch up on a few emails and use the Internet as I havnt had for last few days. Around mid-morning I went for a walk around the neighborhood stopping at a few supermarkets to buy a few bits and pieces to cook with. For lunch Ana made Pascualina- a delicious spinach pie dish typical of Uruguay; she even made a special one for me with no cheese and pastry; with it we had a delicious salad and I made a soy mince stir-fry. We ate, chatted, laughed and relaxed before preparing some Mate and heading to La Rambla (the beachfront) for a walk. It was beautiful down on the coast and there were lots of people about as its holidays here; Ana told me about the area and how it got its name and the goings on of the city. We stopped at the huge Montevideo sign and took some photos before continuing on to the beach and taking a seat to grab some sunshine, share some Mate and people watch. Unfortunately the Mosquitos were out in force again and I ended up getting eaten alive but it was worth it as we got to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere and I got a sampling of what it's like to be Uruguayan. By 5:30pm we headed back to the house and I got to meet Ana's brother who had recently been living in Australia and amazingly worked at the same meat works I had worked at in my younger days - Fletcher's. Ana had her nephews birthday to attend so I relaxed and did some trip planning before going to bed.
