Finally the weather is looking better today and I am ready to see Montevideo hopefully at its finest. A lot of Uruguayans are actually on holiday this week as it is Holly week which means less shops are open, more people are around and there are a few film and traditional festivals taking place. First up I went for a walk around the old city where I am staying; finding some very interesting antique and health food shops. I also stumbled across a tourist office where the guy working was very helpful in pointing out things to do in the city aswell as giving me information on the week long gaucho festival happening here at the moment. After lunch I went and used the Internet and then went for more of a wonder trying to get lost in the maze of streets. Unfortunately I am still not overly impressed with this city, the only hope is that I get to meet some local people who can change my perspective. When I got back to Haileys she was home and eating dinner but after finishing was still hungry and wanted to cook and share a second dinner. We made a stirfry of vegetables with some chicken, liver and hearts and washed it all down with some lack Uruguayan wine. It was good chatting with Hailey as she is a very independent and well traveled American with strong opinions and ideas - not the kind of person I usually have the pleasure of associating with. Unfortunately the water has been off here all day so no shower again and a kitchen full of dirty dishes. Hailey turned in early so I did some reading before also calling it a night.
