Waking up to more horrible weather I decided the best course of action was to go back to bed. After a little sleep-in I had some breakfast and then decided I would go to the street market. I managed to talk Hailey into joining me so we both rugged up and walked to where the markets were being held. I can't help but notice all the poverty, graffiti and garbage scattered everywhere - which is such a contrast to a world view of Uruguay; which is that of high society and incredible wealth. The market was chaos and people were at their rudest bumping, pushing and telling at one another. Oh and the price of things was astronomical - $4 for an avocado and clothes more expensive then in a department store; yet people were still buying: it was as if the market had people in a frenzy. After walking the length of the first strip Hailey had brought earrings, nuts, Raisens fruits and a few other bits and pieces by I had refrained from getting ripped off. Hailey then had to go to a friends house so I headed back to her flat for some lunch. After lunch I went for a walk in the freezing cold to try find some Internet; literally everything is closed here on Sundays but I did manage to find a very bad Internet connection. The first thing I did was send out some CS requests for here in Montevideo - hoping I will get the opportunity to atleast share a meal if not stay with some locals. I then walked down and around the coastal broadwalk and back to the palace by 8pm. After my yoga I cooked dinner in the hope Hailey might be back to join me but unfortunately she arrived later. We chatted a while when she returned and then I climbed into the warm fold-out bed and went straight to sleep.
