We travel halfway round the world and meet up with friends from way back who live just down the road from us! It just so happened that Averil was in Melbourne the same day as us. So we met early in the morning and spent the day being taken round the city by them. They have been here several times before as their daughter lives here.
Before wemet them we walked to the MCG as Mick wanted to see it close up. I think he has ideas of coming here to watch a cricket match some time!
Yesterday was high 30s but today was grey and drizzly and only low 20s.
First we went to Melbourne gaol to look around which was interesting. Ned Kelly was hanged here.
Then we walked around the arcades in the city some of which were very interesting and it kept us dry.
We then visited the war memorial and then walked round the botaical gardens which were beautiful. We saw a kookaburra close up sitting in a tree,
At the moment we are standing on the 88th floor of the Eureka tower which is the tallest building in the southern hemisphere. It is dark and it is the most fantastic view looking down over the city with all the lights.
Tomorrow we fly on to Tasmania.

Jenny and Kim That purse looks pretty full but it would be a shame to change the shape of it by using money for a ticket for cricket!!!
Carol and Mike Well what can we say, a wonderful experience by the sound of it love to read all about your adventure. No cricket at all? Thank you for all the cards you are truely thoughtful
