well, after a brief stint in delhi after a final and monstrous train ride from mumbai, we flew to Leh, in ladakh. its more a tibetan town full of refugees from tibet, but also the traditional ladakhis. they dress like tibetans and have snow boots and funny hats and shawls. very cool. literally. it was -20 at night and -5 during the day, so i suffered at times. our room overlooked the himilayas and was the most brilliant view ever and amazing to wake up to. the only prob is i got sick in delhi. delhi belly! and was sick for the whole 7 days we were in leh. i didnt eat for 7 days and was chilly to say the least but the scenery really made up for it. snowy mountains, no pollution and calms. bliss. tons of military prescence there due to the border control with china so security checks coming i and out of the airport were huge. i got checked about 6 times. a man on the local bus also asked me if i had my passport incase i was a smuggler? i was like...errr do i look like a smuggler? weird he he :) we took a van around the mountains and visited monsateries which were amazing, perched on hills nestled in valleys behind snowy mountains. so nice. it was pretty amazing stuff! i got one of those neat tibetan prayer wheels inlaid with turqouise and brass. its bootiful. so that was the last stop on our amazing indian trip before heading back to delhi again for our final 2 days before flying out.
