The following morning a boy racer who was driving his car around was the talk of the campsite. One of the men had called the police and he had apparently had his license taken away. The campers were very pleased with themselves and we were told several times by people giving us the gossip. After some breakfast we headed off back in land towards Lake Tekapo. We passed several lakes and dams during the drive but Lake Tekapo is famous for its bright blue colour. It is so bright because it is fed from the glaciers and because of the minerals in the rocks. It turned out to be a nice day so when we reached the lake after about a 2 hour drive we walked down over the stones to the edge and relaxed in the sun. The water was cold, so we didn't fancy going in! The lake was really beautiful and so blue that it looks fake in our photos. We watched some people wake boarding before deciding to head back to the small village. There was only a small selection of shops and cafes set up for tourists so we decided to get back on the road and head towards Christchurch. We came across a nice campsite in Geraldine, a small town, so parked up there for the night. In the evening we went to the local sports bar. We were the only tourists in there, other customers included a few old men watching the horse racing and some local boys dressed up for their Saturday night out which couldn't be that exciting in Geraldine! We played some pool for a while. J taught Rachel how to play properly as she couldn't even hold the queue right to start with. She made slow progress. The bar also served Monthieth's cider which was a bonus, we will definitely be making a few trips to Waitrose to stock up on that when we get home!
