Sydney was a great airport to fly in to. Whilst landing we could see the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Our taxi driver on the way to our hotel told us that Sydney was experiencing its worse summer in 50 years! Oh no, not what we wanted! Our hotel was at Hyde Park about a 20 minute walk from the harbour. On our way to the harbour to see the famous landscape we got caught in a huge downpour. Just as the forecast had predicated! Not the weather we expected in Sydney! We decided to head to the harbour and go to the The Rocks Discovery Museum to shelter in there. The Rocks is the oldest neighborhood in Sydney on the West side of the harbour. The museum which gave a history of Sydney was fairly small so it didn't take long to look around. The weather then cleared so we took some photos of the opera house and Harbour Bridge. The bridge was really impressive, so was the Opera House but up close it didn't look as nice. For the rest of the afternoon we shopped and treated ourselves to a few bits for Christmas, the shopping was good with lots of nice new malls. In the evening we went to a bar outside the opera house before going out for dinner. Not forgetting to mention $20 dollars for two beers!! WOW!
The next day the weather was not as cloudy but not nice enough to head to the beach. Dan had emailed us with our secret Santa people for Christmas so we headed to the shops again. After some time we found some good presents and then shopped a bit more for ourselves. In the afternoon the weather improved again so after a lot of shopping we went to Hyde Park. After wrapping our gifts up at the hotel which made us feel a lot more Christmassy and excited we headed back out for some dinner. We went to the same restaurant as we did the night before, because it was good food for a reasonable price and then went to the harbour to get some photos of the city at night. The evening was really warm so there was a lot of people around so we people watched outside the Opera House until it got dark The Opera House was a lot more impressive lit up at night. We stopped off for a few drinks before heading back to the hotel.
