Omaru is 100km up the coast from Dunedin. During the drive there was a signpost directing to 'Shag Point' which we found amusing, we stopped to take a couple of photos then carried on. Maybe we will make some money by sending it in to Nuts magazine. There wasn't much to see on route, the road ran along the coast but in the rain it didn't look too nice, although the see was still pretty blue. As we approached Omaru the weather improved and when we got there, we took a look around the historic port, famous for its Victorian architecture. Other cities that we have been to in New Zealand are a lot more modern. We came across a public swimming pool (indoor) which was $4 entry fee so we decided to go there for the afternoon. It was a leisure pool but had lanes attached. We swam for about 40 minutes before relaxing in the spa. The hot pools weren't as warm and the ones in Taupo though! Natural is definitely better! After our swim McDonalds lured us with their wifi so we went in only getting a happy meal, which then turned in to more. Damn McDonalds, they are clever! We logged on to check a few things about Australia and had a sneeky look at the weather. Looking forward to some sun now!! Later we found a campsite for only $5 a night on the racecourse just outside of town so stayed there the night. It was pretty basic but did the job and saved us some money.
