Yesterday we went for a day trip from Taupo to Waitomo to take part in some black water rafting. Bav and I took the cheaper option of caving and rafting. Pete, Steve, and Dan took the full day which included absailing, zip wires, and waterfall climbing too.

Waitomo is the only place in the world that you can do black water rafting. It's not at all like white water rafting. You go under ground about 60m below land and float on a tube through the water that flows through the caves. We had to jump off a couple of waterfalls and at one point we all linked up and turned our lights off. All you could see was glowworms (which is apparently glowing maggot poo) on the roof. This was really cool and relaxing as we slowly drifted through the cave. Felt a bit like lying on a field staring at the stars but with a lot more stars. Romantic day out for myself and Bav.

After this we headed back to get some bagels and soup to warm us up a bit and then back to Taupo. When we arrived we found the Jills (there are two of them) and headed for a pub quiz and a night out. Tied second place and so two members had to do as many sex positions in a minute with each other. Up stepped Dan and Bav who won a nights accommodation each for getting 18 positions including a grand finale of the vertical 69.

This was definitely one of my favourite days in New Zealand. The black water rafting was great and so was the night out. We are now on our way up to Auckland which is our last stop in NZ and then on to Fiji.
