Barichara to Guane trek
Claire, Todd, who we met at the Hostel and I, all headed out for the day to do a trek the owner of the Hostel had told us about. Just a short bus ride up the mountain a bit was the beautiful town, Barichara. One of the most beautiful Spanish colonial towns in Columbia, where the local specialty was fried ants and a thick corn liquor..... Yum yum..... Not! We did try them and no one really enjoyed them! Well we were in checking out the church, some Columbian tourist came up to us and we're very happy to see backpackers traveling and interviewed us with her iPhone!
From Barichara , there was a 9km downhill track all the way to the small town of Guane. About halfway down we stopped off at a small house selling local crafts and fossils, after we had a cold drink and bought a few items a small boy took us up the backyard too an amazing view point for awesome photos! I had my camera for a few months now and it was here I learned that I could take panoramic photos....... Idiot!
We hiked down the rest of the trail to Guane, checked out the church there and had a beer while we waited for the bus back to San Gil. Back at the Hostel we met up big group people and we all went out for dinner together at Gringo Mikes where they served awesome burgers, and I had one with bacon and mushrooms......... Oh yeah!
Also the Jacuzzi was visited once again......
