Well, we arrived in Jalgaon in order to visit the Ajanta caves and managed to end up in one of the cleanest, friendliest hotels yet - Hotel Plaza.
The following day we went to Ajanta caves which are hewn out of a rock face and are between 2200 and 1500 years old. They were made by buddhist monks in the rainy season and all have these amazing statues of Buddha and paintings. There's a really strange atmosphere inside and you can imagine what it might have been like to live there years ago (see the pictures). They were some very talented monks. The caves were discovered by a British hunting party, they must have felt like Indiana Jones.
After the caves we watched some rubbish films on TV and got ready for our 24 hour train trip to Udaipur. The train ride was certainly interesting, we both had to sit cross legged on a top bunk and endure one of the catering guys taking the piss out of us in Hindi until we bought some Samosas. Fortunately the other passengers were really freindly, particularly a 3 year old who thought we were the best thing he's seen. It all got a bit exciting when another passenger started having a fight with the same catering guy who was taking the piss, can't say we felt too sorry for him.
Hope you're all well at home, love Sarah and Jon, xx
