Hello Everyone!!
Our 6 hour bus journey was alright. Every bus we take in Vietnam they seem to have TV's blasting out Vietnamese songs or dances. Even listening to an iPod full blast doesn't seem to work. No idea why it needs to be so loud and half the Vietnamese are sleeping anyway. Apart from that the bus journey was alright.
We arrived in Quy Nhon at 10.30pm so were a bit worried about getting a hotel as everything in Vietnam seems to shut down pretty early. Shay had written the name of a hotel on a piece of paper, so we asked our taxi to take us there. With Quy Nhon being quite a remote sort of place and supposed to be slightly "off the tourist trail" nobody seemed to speak much English. So working out where we were going and the price was a bit of a challenge. After we thought we had agreed where we were going and for how much the taxi guys told us to jump on the back of their motorbikes with our backpacks on......that was an experience. Trying to balance on the back of a bike with a 20kg backpack on while holding your hand luggage was not easy haha. When we pulled up outside the hotel we realised it was not the one we wanted but it was late and we couldn't be bothered trying to explain so we paid the guys and went to see how much the hotel was.
Turns out, it was a 4 start hotel. A little out of our price range. But with it being low season or the hotel not being busy we managed to haggle the guy down to £15 a night, which is a pretty good deal for a 4 start hotel haha.
The following day we went for a walk to see some of the sights around Quy Nhon. The streets seemed to be deserted, we knew we were in a bit of a remote place but there was barely anybody going around. We stopped at a cafe to try and grab some food, after Shay ordered the guy grabbed the menu and walked away, not letting her order a drink or even let Jonny order anything haha. He never returned and didn't seem to register we were there so we decided to try somewhere else. The next cafe, we didn't even sit down as when we walked in the waiting staff were all sitting watching lord of the rings and had no interest in serving us. We were not having much luck, we though 3rd time lucky. So the 3rd cafe we went into had 4 items of food on the menu, none of them lunch or even meals really. Eventually we found a nice place that were interested in serving us some food. We were not having the best of luck so far in Quy Nhon lol.
We then got a taxi guy to take us to see a nearby pagoda that had a very large Buddha statue. It was really impressive to see, the statue was huge.
There wasn't much else to see in Quy Nhon so we went back to our hotel to chill out at the pool, only for it to start raining. Seriously not having the best of luck.
At night we got some food from our hotel and sat at rooftop bar they have, which had an amazing view of the town. We just chilled out and had a few drinks. Tomorrow we head to Tuy Hoa. Quy Nhon has been a nice break away from the people trying to sell you anything and everything, we are now ready to set off again.
