Day 13 Going to Prince Rupert
Was going to write but a very strange thing occurred this morning when we arrived at the station in Prince George we were all told our train would be delay 5 hrs which meant we would miss our connection with the ferry to Ketchikan. So how does this come about , well The VIA rent the track off CN which is mainly a goods rail serves so whenever they feel like they can delay renters to allow the cargo to freely more no matter what maybe happening to passengers aboard VIA, that's about as short as I can make it.
How to resolve our Delamere, hire a car , good option, wait a minute our tour guide talking with another tour who has 14 Greek tourists in his care , he is trying to get a bus as they need to be in Prince Rupert to catch the same ferry as us . This man is by far one of the nicest people I Have Meet and soon through his calmness has Shirley smiling and settled . 10 minutes after their conversation his return and says the bus will be here at 10 ,it will take about 10 hrs to get there , we will have plenty of time now. So full steam ahead on the bus, with out this mans' help and his tour party we would have had to drive 710 ks,and paid 600 to hire a car. The bus cost us $140 American each and no stress.
The trip was ok ,we stopped every 150ks for pee and stretch, saw no wild life ,but the First Nation catching salmon, keeping some, measure and releasing others. I have photos, it's a new way of fishing to me.
All went to schedule close to time the man said he would take us to the ferry on his bus so we all decided to celebrate that all worked out well with a few wines, cocktails and local beer. So we will travel on the ferry tonight an arrive in Ketchikan sometime tomorrow morning.
It's now 12.15 am just 15 more minutes to the bus picks us up, so good night .
Love Shirley & John
