Day 15 Zip lining.
After the events of yesterday It is time for a new and exciting adventure. We are heading 20 ks out from our B&B to the Zip line adventure park, this one thing I have never done. We get there around 12.00, go to counter , tell them we are booked for today ,they look ,say no tomorrow because Nichol had rung that morning to confirm, again they check , no tomorrow, Shirley tells them that we will be flying tomorrow and without any further fuss they slot in to the 12.00 time slot . Wait here The car will be here in 3Minutes talks us to the top of the mountain. Here we met another six people who are also doing this , some experienced others like us novices. Two young guide are to look after us ,nice lad , they go through the safety stuff , get us dressed , harnesses, Helmets, and gloves, now let hit the line.
There are 7 lines , they vary in length and angle, our first is a short run of 150 meters ,this to let us know what is required at each stage , these guide are truely great at their job , not only are they explaining the techniques but are easing everyone's nerves with their humour.Shirley was the first of us four to go " she had been nervous all morning, but she step to the first run ,and away she went . Every completed then we go through the same setup for the next six each one longer steeper which of course mean you go faster . The rain is back by line 4 but this to us Zip line junkies means little ,we now have the adrenaline pumping , nothing is going to stop us now, and so it was.
Our group completed the course in roughly 2 1/4 hrs , when we get to the end of line seven there is no way down, we are at least 80 meters off the ground. My thought are what f-- k ,the young guide Jac says you will be attached to this counter weight ,you will step off and drop to those mats below , he demos , ok not so bad, that is till it is your turn ,then that first step off the platform is not that easy. Phil our other instructor must of sensed this and calmly reassured everyone . Again we all completed and at the bottom joked about it .
Zip lining would I do it again ,You bet , I had a ball , maybe because of the group ,who spoke to each other, laughing and enjoying every moment , or maybe because of the young instructors who guided us through each step with both the safety aspects seriousness but also showing us that this was a carefree adventure where enjoying yourself was part of the park policy
