Day 24
The Mendenhall Glacier,
Today was the first lay in we have been able to have ,so rising at 9.30 seemed very weird for me. We finally leave the room about 10.30 and headed downtown to find a shuttle to us to the Glacier , but they all want to charge $45 per person for a 11k trip . We worked out that if we took the local bus towards the airport ,in the loop it would take us within 2.5 k walk of the Glacier so that's what we did. Again the colours of the Glacier were amazing but the one we saw yesterday seemed to have more colour. We went looking for Bear but there were none to be found ,they had be seen on one of the trail but the rangers had then closed those trails.On these trails we come across the salmon but now they have change colour as their bodies start to deteriorate from the strenuous activity and lack of food ,from their trek to get home to lay their row.
Last night we ate out at a lovely Italian restaurant the food was very good,service very good whole night very good.
We move to anchorage tomorrow ,we leave here at 5.45 am by taxi to the airport. Love to all Shirley and John
