Hi ,we took a train ride up into the country where we saw some rare and wonderful sights. It took 3hrs by train to reach this township and at first I thought it better be better than yesterday and it was.
The towns name was Meteora , a small place that gets over 3 million tourist a year. It is here that we discover why it is so special. As soon we alight from the train it is an amazing landscape that greets our eyes.
High, very high up near the clouds are what I thought were mountains but the fact is it is a rock similar to Ayres rock but 5 times as big. Over the year this rock has split vertically and more caps appear . On these caps over period dating back to the early A.Ds a number of monasteries have been built. How,I don’t know.
The difference from yesterday is we were able to go into each one and they spectacular. The workmanship would amaze anybody, the position where they are situated makes the mind boggle, for the question is always, How?
We arrived back in Thessaloniki, in the dark at 8:35pm, it has already been a 14hr day, but we a not finished yet. There is another restaurant Shirley has found and we decide to go there on a our way back to the hotel. Tired sure we were, but with the time of our stay running short it was the best way of fitting it all in, anyway it is a rest day tomorrow.
The Restaurant is MeZen, this is a newer restaurant in Thessaloniki and are we glad we made the decision. It is a seafood place. The food is unbelievable . We would recommend this to anyone out there who may come to Thessaloniki. There are pictures. That is it for now, see you in the next blog.
Stay well and look after each other
