Day 16 13/9/2018
Another moving day goodbye Zadar ,hello Split
We rise around 7.00 , decide to have breaky in the old town, so round 8.30 we have our bands prepare , shower complete, so we go a wandering ,as you all know we love to go a wandering as that great Australian song goes. We look at few Restruarant really dear, then we turn the corner near an very old church and there is this three table coffee shop and they do the breaky we are looking,Eggs and bacon, right price and a free coffee. We have one more stroll through the old town of Zadar then head back to our b&b pick up the bags and head for the bus stop. Shirley has done her job again , we are 500 metres from it. This just to get us to the coach station in the centre of both towns, we’re early thus the photo I posted yesterday. Our next bus trip starts 1.00 and it is only 11.30.
The bus ride from Zadar to Split was uneventful and the country side uninspiring, but the drive took 2.5 hours.
Split yeah, we step of the air conditioned bus and we just about melt into the tar pavement. Already we can see it is a hive of activity markets ,hundred of people ,buses coming ,going, tourist Kongo line pushing or should I say jockeying for position. We grab our breath and set about find where the accomodation could ,we have some direction but the street we are in is not on the planet book map , I stay with the bags and the tour guide Shirley hustle up and down the shop line for more info, there she is not smiling ,that’s not good. Again on the we are not posted ,so we decide that if we follow the flimsy directions . So roughly it read, you are to walk 500 metres to traffic light ,then a further Hundred meters ,turn left , then second on the right. All that done and nothing, so we walk a little further ,enough is enough, so I go into a chemist ,they talk broken english enough to tell us we are almost there. It turn out it was the second set of traffic light and all the rest was good.
We arrive at the B&B and the young woman was nice but ditzy. Shirley happy air con but the smallest ocean view you could amazing ,but really good room.
The walk to the room of 1.2 ks had taken a bit out of us as it was all up hill so rest was required . When refresh we head straight down to the old town to get a fed and to continue our touring tradition. We found a restaurant call Portifino , the number 6 in trip adviser and we found it by pure luck. Food was outstanding ,service outstanding, experience outstanding, would go again no worries.
After that fine food experience we needed to walk it of so around the old town we strolled , amazing ,so many eateries, shops, icecream bars and you won’t have believe it a Game Of Throne Shop. We were thirsty by now and as if the gods were watching a rooftop bar seemed to appear from nowhere ,an omen don’t you agree. Two white wine , a stool overlooking the street and some serious people watching was on in full. Finish our drink then face the task of going back up the hill. A great night for our first time here can only get better from here as we know a little bit more about the lay of the land. So that’s it til we do the next blog ,stay we’ll be safe and remember we love you all.
