We had treated ourselves to a nice hotel for the Christmas period and it was exactly what we were hoping for; The resort was upmarket and remote. The room was perfect, we had bifold doors onto the balcony from where we had a sunset view over the ocean. Our bathroom was partly open plan and we could also see the sea from our large jacuzzi! We had dinner at the hotel that night and the following morning hired a scooter and headed to the main town chewang beach to buy some clothes. Oh yes, before leaving the room i also presented amy with a necklace which i had sneaked out to buy a month earlier for a christmas present. She was over the moon and felt bad for not getting me anything. By coincidence our friend Geoff was arriving that day for a holiday so we met up for a drink before returning to our hotel to get ready for Christmas eve. We met up with Geoff again and a few of his pals and headed down to the beach where all the action was. We went to a few bars and finished in a club before catching a cab home.
The weather in Koh Samui so far had been poor so when we opened the curtains on Christmas morning to see brilliant blue sky we were chuffed to bits. I'm afraid to say that we were both pretty hungover so after a massage on the beach we both picked a couple of sun beds and spent the rest of the day relaxing. The hotel was advertising a special christmas dinner meal on the beach. However this was way over our price range so we declined and headed to a little restaurant further down the beach. The weather was perfect and we head Christmas dinner whilst watching the sunset. Courtesy of Aunty Yvonne we also had a Christmas cracker which by now was fairly battered! It worked though and I sat there in my Christmas hat looking like a wally! (a happy wally mind you). A very different but memorable Christmas day!
After another day around the beach and our enormous 35 metre swimming pool we got chatting to English couple from Essex who were on holiday. We joined them for dinner and the 4 of us squeezed on a tuk tuk which took us to a restaurant around the corner. The food was the best I've had in Thailand and the position on the beach was great. The owner was a bit weird though! A very laid back gay Englishman dressed in Thai fishing rousers clothes and a little waistecoat. :-s
