We had booked ourselves in to a little bungalow which was basic to say the least! It was located in an old fishing village on the quiet side of it he island. The area was very hippy like and we rather liked its laid back feel. After an afternoon on our local beach, which apart from the litter was very nice we went to an Italian restaurant that we had heard good things about. The food lived up to our expectations! Our village had a shop which sold plain t shirts without any silly writing on (the only in south east Asia I believe!) I seized the opportunity and bought two! Our hotel included breakfast which based our experience of the hotel so far we were not exactly looking forward to it. However it was very good and was also served on the beach!
After hiring a scooter we set off to explore some of the Island. The roads were more like paths and we barely saw any other vehicles. The island was very pretty and after about 5 miles we settled for a beach which had a few nice little snack bars on. We had timed our trip to Koh Phangnan to coincide with the full moon party so that evening we jumped in a pick up truck taxi to take us to the beach where it all happened. We had arranged to meet a Dutch girl who we had met on an overnight train a week before. After a few drinks with her and some South Africans at the front of their hotel we went down to the beach where there were several Bars/clubs and about 10,000 people or so. Unfortunately we lost each other for about an hour which was a shame but on the whole we had a decent night. When we got back to our bungalow I decided to have a lay down in a hammock and ended up spending the night there. I woke up the next day covered in bites. Very very hungover we then had to get a ferry over to our destination Koh Tao. Of course as expected there was plenty of waiting around in the scorching sun for the ferry.
