Started the day at Hertz to return the car. Always an ordeal. Then on to the walking tour which was late and abridged due to confusion. Visited some of the colleges (of which there are 31). Amazing to see the list of former students when they include names like JJ Thomson ( Marv's personal favorite), Sir Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin..... Last drive on our journey! After 1351 miles of driving with the wheel on the wrong side of the car and the cars on the wrong side of the street and the roundabouts going clockwise, I can honestly say it's been challenging but fun. It would have been easier with a smaller car! Did our walking tour of Cambridge but will join a city tour tomorrow to get into the various colleges. Love to watch the punting! And, of course, our neighborhood pub. Dinner at yet another...

Lovely sunny day! Off to explore York Minster, a huge, beautiful Cathedral, second only to Canterbury Cathedral in importance in England. Wonderful tour with surprisingly good guide. Next stop the RR Museum. Actually worth the visit. Then back to the Cathedral for Choral Evensong, a singing service which hasn't changed its format since the 1500's!

A quick drive to York and off for our walking tour of this walled city. Amidst the wonders of the Roman, Medieval and Victorian ruins and buildings, the most eventful part of the tour was Marv falling up the stairs and smacking his nose. Despite the blood, he carried on! Sightseeing in Durham has to begin at the Cathedral. This cathedral, according to one of the docents, was voted BEST cathedral in all of England. It was very impressive. Next was the castle. Unenthusiastic guide but interesting castle which is now one of the colleges at this university. Did the riverwalk and wandered through town. Enjoying the SUN! Dinner at a Lebanese restaurant to complete the day. Last stop, the pub below us.
