Sightseeing in Durham has to begin at the Cathedral. This cathedral, according to one of the docents, was voted BEST cathedral in all of England. It was very impressive. Next was the castle. Unenthusiastic guide but interesting castle which is now one of the colleges at this university. Did the riverwalk and wandered through town. Enjoying the SUN! Dinner at a Lebanese restaurant to complete the day. Last stop, the pub below us.

Drove through the countryside in search of Roman ruins. Interesting history but actual ruins require a good imagination. Arrived in Durham, the Oxford of the North. Our B&B is above a pub. Parking was a challenge! While looking for dinner, we came upon the local theater and wandered in to see a not so great production of Great Expectations.
