UK Road Trip, Summer 2017
Change of plans due to weather. Decided to do a palace today and the walking tour of Oxford tomorrow when it may be drier. Took the public bus to Blenheim Palace. Hard to believe we've been here a week and this is our first palace experience. This is the only residence of non-royals allowed to be called a palace. The first Duke of Marlborough, John Churchill, received the royal land from Queen Anne, hence, a palace. Not only beautiful, but famous for its association with Winston Churchill.
Another walk around Oxford and a visit to our pub before dinner at a lovely seafood restaurant. Cheers!

Sam Mostow Love the pictures! Keep sending more!
Lois Goodstein Hankering for a helping of higgledy pie? Pining for some pork scratchings and a pint? Standing on the corner of Alfred and Blue Boar Streets is The Bear Inn, one of the oldest pubs in Oxford, dating back to 1242. A distinctive feature of the Bear is a collection of over 4,500 snippets of club and regimental ties that used to be clipped with a pair of scissors in exchange for half a pint of beer. Sure hope you packed the highly sought-after Mostow Regiment tie!
Maher again, not a robot Yes, don't miss the walking tour. Our Cambridge walking guide called it 'that Other Place' because he was an Oxford grad, a slightly mussed and heavy set poet of about 45 with two books under his name who had read history. A wonderful 21st century Dickens character!
