After a brief evening stop in Brisbane and deciding there is really not much more to do having already spent a fair amount of time in cities we hit the road again.......
We must have liked the night driving as we decided to do it again on our way to Noosa Heads; Lonely Planet had warned this is a tricky place to go without a map due to the stupid number of roundabouts and it was not wrong, we felt like we had gone round in circles all night before we eventually made it into the town centre which we immediately fell in love with.
It has a very chic Mediterranean feel to it and is packed full of great restaurants and bars very much to our taste, as it was getting late we knew we needed to find a good place to park the crib and avoid a further wakeup call by the police…. Noosa National Park provided that spot perfectly, it was quite strange to find yourself in a national park less than 3 minutes drive from a busy town centre!
Although not the police we were woken at 6am again to a bizarre scratching sound, we thought our possum friend had followed us and was attempting to gain entry into the stylishly green van….. but it turned out to be one of hundreds of early bird surfers waxing their boards! By the time we bothered getting up the area was crazy busy, surfers everywhere and nowhere to park (good move getting there the night before! lol.)
Off we went for a walk in the national park, about 13km along the coast there and back, you are joined by many surfers marching bare foot to the next surf point and this is where we witnessed some of the best surfing we saw in Oz! Some really ace stuff!
Another look round the town centre before setting off for Hervey Bay…..
