With our 5 week adventure in Australia coming to an end we had two days left to spend in Cairns where we finally arrived three weeks and 5,160 kms after picking up the Jucy crib, I can now officially report Joanna’s contribution to the driving was a whopping 200kms (and I’m rounding up there).
Cairns was like Townsville, completely different to what we expected with loads of cafes, bars and restaurants lining the Esplanade there was plenty of choice for an evening out. The huge chorine pool overlooking the beach was great fun and the night time swims whilst party goers walk past you were amazing.
We watched a flaming baton show on the beach which was really cool before retiring to the McDonalds car park where our camper was waiting. As Jo made up the bed I noticed a little friend (actually a rather large Beatle) had found its way inside and joined her in the back but before I could finish the sentence “babe, don’t freak out….” she was flying out the back door brushing herself down as if a 100 spiders were climbing over her! The family enjoying a big mac enjoyed the show!
After a fierce battle involving a full can of deodorant (makes those little **** run) and several rolled up newspapers victory was mine and I could now begin the task of talking Jo back into the van for the evening!
We spent the next day exploring Cairns and again enjoyed the Esplanade pool before dropping the camper off at the Jucy offices, covered in bat poo…. we now know why there is one road that is free to park on in the middle of Cairns!
Taxi ride to the airport for our flight to Singapore! Bye Oz!
