After leaving Noosa we hit the Pacific Highway once more stopping to sleep in Gympie (not much going on) followed by a morning at Rainbow Beach, we were going to go for a walk in the Great Sandy National Park but after the first 200m resembled an actual bush walk with lizards flying out in front of Jo she decided that was enough and retreated back to the camper!
We reached Hervey Bay later that afternoon and began searching out our Fraser Island trip, we had been told by other travellers we had met that stand-by rates were the best way to go and almost always were available saving you a fortune, unfortunately there were no stand-by rates as on the two days we had spare and all the trips were fully booked meaning we had to miss out on Fraser Island although we were not too concerned as we had enjoyed the remote experience Fiji had provided.
Hervey Bay was a nice town and we enjoyed a 6km beach front walk in the blistering midday heat before Jo purchased a 20 pence pineapple that made her very happy! As the blog was in desperate need of an update we found an internet café to keep you all up to date with our travels….. we managed to pick one next to the 1,000 parrots that were chilling out in trees squawking like mad! Very surreal!
Bye bye to Hervey Bay!
