Day 17 - stone town

Today is the day of our flights out of Africa! We are so excited for Asia! I had packed my bags the night before so while Michael did his in the morning I went and had breakfast on the roof and read our Thailand book. We had to check out of our room at 10am, and our flight was not until 4.30pm. So we spent the morning sitting around the hotel watching tv. We got a taxi to Zanzibar airport which was even worse than prestwick! The check in desks were outside! We got in to the departure lounge and could see all the planes, which were absolutely tiny. We sat worrying for a bit that we would be on them but thankfully our plane was a bit bigger, although it was still a small propeller plane. The flight was fine but the descent and landing were scary in the tiny plane. During the flight we got another view of Kilimanjaro - it was a whole lot more impressive! It was pretty much the same height as the plane was flying. Got to Nairobi airport where we had about a six hour wait for our flight to Bangkok. So we had some food, went to buy some souvenirs but they were too expensive, and sat reading or books waiting for the flight which was at 11pm.
