On our last day in Christchurch we went to the museum and Quake City. The museum had some great displays - the Antarctic centre where there were artefacts from early exploration. We also particularly liked the series of travel poster from the 1950's - 60's.
The Quake City display showed what happened during the two major earthquakes - 2010 and 2011. I was particularly taken with the recounts from people about where they were and how they reacted. There was some footage from a security camera showing a man who took shelter in a doorway. The building was severely damaged but he walked away. I was also taken with the drone that was used to see internal damage in the catholic cathedral.
After that, it was time to head for the airport, return the hire car and check in. From there it was an uneventful flight home and as always, good to be back.
