It was another early start today as we headed south west towards King's Canyon. The road out of Yulara was typical red dirt and sparse vegetation and we only saw a couple of other cars. Last night we were picked up from our hotel and taken out into the desert for dinner and to watch the sunset with Uluru as the backdrop. We stood on top of a sand dune sipping champagne, listening to a didgeridoo player and eating canapés while the sun set over Uluru and Kata Tjuta. We left Melbourne on an early flight and landed at Ayers Rock at 11am with a one and a half hour time difference. The shuttle bus picked us up and took us to our hotel - Sails in the Desert. The views of Uluru in the plane and on the trip in from the airport were amazing. We could also see The Olgas or Kata Tjuta as it is known.
