We arrived into Airlie Beach on the 22nd at around 7am and could not check into our room until 1pm. So we dropped our bags off and headed to the lagoon area and sunbathed there. In the afternoon we checked in and went to the office to confirm our sailing trip for the following day.
On the 23rd we got on our boat "New Horizon" at 3pm and sailed for three hours into the heart of the Whitsunday Islands. We anchored in the middle of the sea for the night and had dinner on the boat. It was a 96 foot wooden schooner with around 35 people on board. We had cabins underneath to sleep in at night.
The following morning we were woken early for breakfast and then it was straight over to the famous beach you see on all the postcards fro a look around. The beach is called Tongue Bay. We then got back on the boat and had some lunch while sailing. The boat was anchored again and we got to go into the sea and do some snorkeling around the reef in the area. It was absolutely fantastic, really bright and colourful with loads of fish swimming next to us. One of the crew on the boat threw in food for the fish while we were snorkeling adn they all went mad getting the food and everyone was getting slapped in the face with fish tails. Then it was back on the boat for dinner and bed again.
The morning of the 25th we were woken early again and went snorkeling in a different spot. It is great getting to go in amongst all the reef specially after seeing so many pictures of it. Luckily none of the fish tried to eat us either! In the afternoon we headed back to Airlie Beach where the trip ended. We met up with some of the group at night for a drink.
