Despite what Grant says, back to the real reason we are in Rio - the Carnival!

We started yesterday with a day at the zoo. It was nice seeing all the animals, but I think they were all a little hot as they were all lying in the shade sleeping!

We left for Carnival at 7.30 and made it on time for it starting at 9pm. There were 6 schools performing last night and each school takes over 1 hour to complete their parade. We stayed for 5 of the 6 schools and this took until 4.30 in the morning! We finally got to the hotel at 6.15 this morning.

Carnival is great. It is a fantastic atmosphere with people spilling onto the street and I even saw people standing in the middle of a Shell garage at one point! The parade in the Sambadrome is fantastic with very elaborate costumes and floats. Carnival is something that everyone would enjoy. However, we think that you would probably go to Carnival more than once!

So today we are just resting after our late night and catching up on some washing, boring!
