Yesterday we got our flight from Buenos Aires to Santiago in the evening and spent the night in the hostel talking to a guy from Edinburgh (and the 3 of us saying how nice it was to hear another Scottish accent). He has been living in Auckland for 5 years now right enough and hasnt been home. The hostel is clean and simple, although is really noisy and so far we had been lucky not to have somewhere too noisy. Anyway, its only for 4 nights!
Today we went and had a quick wonder around the city and went into a small museum about the history of Santiago.
On Thursday 19th March we went on the open top bus tour around Santiago. We hopped on and off a few times. One of the stops was "The most important mall in South America" think this was a mix up in translation, although since it was the most important mall I thought I better have a look. Was a nice mall which even had a Topshop concession in a department store. We also hopped off at a history and art museum, although none of the information was in English, so was a little pointless.
On friday the 20th we went to the Metropolitan Park in Santiago. Here you can ride a fanicular railway to the top and there are some spectacular views over the city. We then got a cable car at the top and went to a few stops where there was a museum and some restaurants. There was a zoo, but Grant wont let me go to anymore until the kangaroos in Australia, so we didnt go in.
Saturday 21st was our last day in Santiago and we just relaxed around the pool at the hostel until our flight to Auckland at night. We are ready to get to an English speaking country!!!
