We arrive back to Puno about 4pm and I head back to the Point.. I went back to the same room and this time I have 2 roommates Chris a crazy English guy who was 25 and I think it was rowan or something like that.. A shy, slightly nerdy but cool guy from Darwin.. the 3 of us sat in the room chatting about random things from Chris' t-shirt selling company that just got in some hot water with feminist groups for selling t-shirts that say "If she runs away from you she is just playing hard to get" and No plus rohipnal (that horse drug) = yes or something like that...He didn't see the big deal and I actually thought they were rather amusing myself although slightly inappropriate.. He showed me some of the 500+ tweets that went off about him after he made a tweet about ugly feminist.. The best way to describe Chris was intelligent guy with a serious case of ADD.. He hated Peru and couldn't wait to leave and in fact he hated all third world countries... rather amusing.
Rowan (that's what we will call him anyway) was the opposite, he was about to start an engineering degree and was really intelligent but struggles slightly in the socializing skills but he makes an effort and is travelling by himself which I thought was awesome.. These two guys met on the bus to Puno from Copacabana and are complete opposites but seem to get along like a house on fire.. after a few hours of talking about random s*** and our lives in a nutshell I got ready for dinner as I was meeting Jenny and Vicki for dinner at the Inca Bar.. I invited the boys along , Chris declined as he was going to eat cake and rowan was in.. Once Chris found out everyone was going he came along as well.. I think he has a bit of a fear of missing out.. His somewhat like a child I guess.. We met the girls on Lima street did introductions (hrmmm maybe they will remember rowans actual name.. might check) anyway we headed to the Inca bar.. Dinner was good fun and the food was amazing.. I had a Dijon chicken thing.. yummy anyway the conversation was great we talked about politics because everyone at the table hated Julia Gillard and they were saying that everyone in England hate her and all the newspapers are bagging her because she didn't bow to the queen... ranga mole.. I told them the story of when I was in New York watching the AFL granny that when she came on the screen the whole bar booed.. We also discussed publicity stunts like Kevin rudds one of "accidently" having vegemite in his carryon luggage,.. Douche, talked about travel and our home towns, work and everything in between.. Most of the night was spent laughing at Chris' inappropriate comments and gestures.. Poor jenny seemed to cop the brunt of it sitting next to him.. After dinner we said goodbye to the girls and headed back to the hostel. Rowan went to the bar but I had to pack my bags again and I was heading to Bolivia the next day.. Chris and I chatted away whilst I packed.. We spoke about our families, our grandpas passing's, old relationships, friendships, future plans.. This went on for hours.. It's rare but sometimes you meet strangers that come into your life for a split second that you know you will never see or speak to again but yet you feel completely comfortable in talking to them about whatever with very few limitations... Rowan came back in and chatted for a bit as well and then it was time for sleep..
I got up in the morning got my things together and took off.. Never swapped details with the guys.. We talked about it but I forgot before I left.. But I will always have the amusing memories of Chris and rowan.. The odd couple..
I got my transfer for the bus and the Danish couple from my home stay were on it as were Vicki and jenny.. We boarded the bus.. Next stop for me Copacabana, Bolivia
