Today we had planned to get up and get going earlyish, but when i woke up i was feeling really rough as i had throughout the night had stomach cramps and so i wanted a bit more sleep as i still felt sick. We finally got up about 12pm again and got sorted to go out i was still feeling a bit sick but thought it might go once i had some food. We just went in the grocers at the end of our rd and found he sold packets of croissants so we got those for brekkie/lunch and then walked to the metro station.
We then got the metro to Tokyo central - the metro is quite similar to Londons underground and the ticket machines are just as confusing!!
Once we got to Tokyo we set off in seach of the imperial palace and its gardens but it was just soo hot and humid - it looked overcast though, so we didnt feel like walking all round the gardens and you cant really get to the palace as its kinda in the middle of all of its grounds so we just walked along the front and saw a couple of the guards and a couple of the gateways into the palace and a bridge across the moat.
We then sat down and people watched for a while - there were loads of people running - is there a tokyo marathon coming up that they're training for? Anyway after that rest we walked to Ginza where there are loads of shops and its more what you expect for Tokyo with all the flashing signs and the big signs for all the electrical companies. It is also the major shopping bit so Armani, Gucci shops etc were all there so was v expensive. We walked across the Sukiyabashi crossing which is just so busy and has about 6 crossings across it. It was here we found the Sony building which is more of a showroom we went up the first few floors and oooh'd and ahh'd at all the technology and the super tiny gadgets but them got pretty bored as neither of us are techno geeks, so we left and went to try to find a cafe to have a drink in but they were all so expensive we just went to a burger bar and grabbed a coke and something to eat - i know not helping my stomach ache but trust me its prob better than risking not knowing what im ordering! We then got the metro from Ginza back to Asakusa and walked around the stalls again on Nakamise Ave, where we got a couple of postcards and we desperately looked for a shot glass for Vic but no luck they just seem to sell them in sets of 5 or 6 for Sake. But im sure we'll find one before the wk is out.
No real plans for tomorrow although i think we might go on a boat/river taxi one day up the SumidaGawa river which is a 2 minute walk from our hostel.
Anyway Im not having much luck putting any new pics on with these comps but i shall keep trying.
Sayonara for now xxxx
