So on our last full day in Bangkok (Tuesday) we went for a Thai massage - lovely although quite violent some of the poking and pulling! but lovely and a bargain at 180baht (3quid) for an hour.
We then shopped some more and then sent a big parcel home with all our goodies in it, although I somkehow still have loads in my bag and so couldnt close it before we left so have definately had to use the extender part of the bag now - no return now!
We arrived here in Singapore yesterday mid afternoon after quite a turbulant flight. We then came and found a hostel in Little India, it seems at all the hostels there are no twin or double rooms left so we have had to go in a dorm - i guess we better start getting used to it as we will not be able to afford anything other than a dorm in Oz. The dorms small (6 bed) and ours is all girls although theres only 4 of us in it.
We didnt do much last night as we were pretty knackered, so we just had a little wnder about to a couple of very indian shopping centres and then came back and got chatting to a girl from Amsterdam and a boy from Cheltenham for a while discussing what they'd done and where they'd been and next stop etc - the sme conversations you have with everyone when travelling upon first meeting them.
It took me a while to get to sleep last night as you could hear music coming from outside quite loudly but once i was asleep it was fine until 5.30am when the girl in the next bed got up packed and left after flashing her phone and torch about for 10 mins but after that i was fast asleep again. Till 8.30 when i got up and showered in time for brekkie which is free (eggs and toast).
We then walked down to get on an open top bus tour we had a leaflet on. We paid 33dollars (11quid) and we get unlimited use of 6 tours around Singapore for 2 days. So we got on the 'city' tour for a while then jumped off at the river and went on the river cruise which was really good, it lasted 30 mins, then we got back on the city your to Orchard Rd, which is the mainj shopping road with hundreds of malls and shopping centres on it, so we wandered around all the shops its quite cheap here but we cant really fit much more in our bags so we're having to restrain ourselves! Although we have bought the lonely planet guide to Oz as we didnt have 1 and thought it would definately be needed!
We then finished the city tour and decided to do the one to sentosa but as it was getting late we only got the penultimate bus there so only had an hour so we didnt get chance to do anything and everything theres a bit expensive and a waste of money really except we plan to go tomorrow night on a tour to see the night show of music and lights on the water.
We've just had an Indian for tea - as we are staying in little India - and now we're just catching up on the email and just had a good chat to mum and dad on Msn. Tomorrow another couple of tours (the night one and a heritage one) and then packing as on Saturday we're off to Perth which we're geting worried about as we know Australia is going to be so much more expensive than Asia has been. Oh well Im sure we'll be able to just stick to a budget and just eat toast if thats all we can afford, lol.
Thanks to everyone for keeping in touch its great, keep it up!!
