Jen's Travel Diary
Hey
We took a 6h bus from Chiang Mai to Nan. We found the hostel recommended - the Amazing guesthouse - which is run by a women, her brother and her mother. We decided that the best way to see Nan was to hire out motorbikes, but after many failed attempts at riding them (and much laughter from the family) we decided that bikes would be the better option. We cycled around Nan for 2h, getting lost many times on the way!
The second day in Nan we decided to visit 'Ban Nong Bua'. We took the local, slightly rusty, bus to 'Tha Wang Pha' and from there we had to take a motorbike taxi to "Wat Ban Nong Bua" a very old but ornate temple set out in the countryside. Many rice and coffee bean fields nearby.Behind the temple Thai Lue weavers were making very colourful cotton sheet on old fashioned looms. On the way out we we invited by a group of men to play boules. After an hour of laughter and cheering later, it was decided that Annie was the lucky player for both teams! O our walk back to the bus stop one of the men invited us in for a drink and to meet his family - the people out here are so friendly and chatty.
Back in Nan for the evening Annie and I decided to go out for dinner in the local bar. After eating we we invited to have some drinks with some Thai men at the table nearby. Joee and Malloy were brothers, Joee had to translate (he had been a tour guide for asian tourists in europe) but this was still very amusing. We had a really fun evening!! Mind you by the end of the night we realised that from Malloys job description he was probably a Loan-Shark!!
Today we have taken a 11h bus journey from Nan to Bangkok Airport, as at 6am Friday morning we are flying to 'Ko Samui' one of the coastal areas in Southern Thailand
