As the weather was good we decided to stay the morning on Ningaloo Reef as Saturday had been overcast and we did not see its full beauty. We went to Turquoise Bay and that it certainly was - a fairly shallow lagoon of crystal clear water. So many fish at your feet; Ray was having a fit because he was not allowed to fish as the area was a Sanctuary Zone and no fishing permitted.
Anyway time was ticking and we had to start heading north, which we did. Another 300 kms of less than nothing. We had our first experience of a non-star rated caravan park. It was Nanturra Roadhouse. These places have everything you need - fuel, food, beer and groceries. The ablutions weren't bad, however, when you opened the door to the loos everything crickett, mosquito, fly and butterfly came in with you. At the risk of them making a meal of our rear ends we decided to use the camper van facilities. We haven't really had to do that yet because apart from driving it's Rays job to empty the dunny!! We didn't venture outside the van after dark as who knows what wildlife was out there. You wouldn't believe Ray used to be a "trained professional killer!"
