We would have liked to have spent more time in Albany but the weather was wet and cold so we decided to head towards Wave Rock.
Before we left we had a drink in a coffee shop and we got talking to an elderly lady as you do and we were putting the world to rights and got onto the subject of dogs as we Tozers do nowadays! Ray has found a new phrase for his repertoire which is "the dogs hearing was so good he could hear a worm fart."
We were expecting a very scenic drive through the Stirling Mountain range and headed for Lake Grace. The mountains were quite scenic but it was just a flat pass through them and when we got to Lake Grace it was dry!! They had not seen rain since last July. We then drove through hundreds of kilometres of flat prairie land which is used for wheat growing and sheep farming and we saw plenty of those. Ray did not have any urge to attack one of them fortunately.
We eventually came upon Wave Rock which was really bizarre. It was hidden by trees and was this mound with this weird rock face that was believe it or not shaped like a wave. There was nothing else there and the town that owned it had a total population of 400. We had planned to stay there overnight but we decided to head back to Perth for the weekend.
